Terms of Use

Last Updated: April 27, 2026

Welcome to Orbyt, a video social networking app built on the Authenticated Transfer Protocol ("AT Protocol") — an open, decentralized social networking protocol. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Orbyt and form a binding agreement between you and Orbyt ("we", "us", "our").

Please read these Terms carefully before using Orbyt. By using the App you agree to be bound by them. These Terms cover Orbyt only — if you use another AT Protocol application, that app's own terms apply.

The Short Version

  • You own your content. We only use it to operate and improve Orbyt.
  • Most content on AT Protocol is public by design. Don't post anything publicly you want kept private.
  • Be 13 or older (or the applicable minimum age in your country) to use Orbyt.
  • Don't use Orbyt to harm others or break the law.
  • We can suspend accounts that violate these Terms, but you can appeal.
  • Services are provided "as is" — we disclaim warranties and cap our liability.
  • New Jersey law governs any disputes.

Definitions

  • "App" / "Orbyt" — the Orbyt mobile application and any associated services.
  • "AT Protocol" — the decentralized social networking protocol on which Orbyt operates.
  • "Content" — any posts, profiles, photos, videos, links, or other material.
  • "User Content" — Content you create, upload, or share through Orbyt.
  • "Account" — your Orbyt / Bluesky account used to access the App.

Relationship to Bluesky and the AT Protocol

Orbyt is an independent, third-party client that connects to the Bluesky network via the AT Protocol. Orbyt is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bluesky Social, PBC.

When you post or interact through Orbyt, that activity occurs on the decentralized AT Protocol network. By using Orbyt you also agree to comply with:

For issues specific to the Bluesky network or AT Protocol, contact Bluesky directly. Bluesky is not responsible for Orbyt's practices.

Who Can Use Orbyt

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum age in your country) and legally permitted to use Orbyt under the laws of your jurisdiction. If you are a minor under the laws of your country, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. By allowing a minor to use Orbyt, a parent or guardian accepts responsibility for the minor's activity.

Accounts

You need an Account to use Orbyt. Keep your Account credentials confidential — you are responsible for all activity under your Account, whether or not you authorized it. If you use Orbyt on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you believe your Account has been compromised, report it to us immediately.

Your Content

You Own Your Content

You retain full ownership of your User Content. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights in your User Content to Orbyt.

License You Grant to Orbyt

By posting User Content through Orbyt, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content solely as necessary to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Orbyt App and its features;
  • Share your Content on the AT Protocol network as directed by your actions in the App;
  • Promote Orbyt using publicly visible Content (e.g., screenshots for marketing), always in a manner consistent with your privacy settings.

This license does not permit us to sell your Content to third parties, use it to train AI or machine-learning models, or use it for purposes unrelated to operating and improving Orbyt.

Your Responsibility for Your Content

You are solely responsible for your User Content. By posting Content, you represent that you have all rights necessary to grant the license above and that your Content does not violate any law or third-party rights.

Content Moderation

We may remove or restrict access to User Content that we believe violates these Terms, applicable law, or poses a safety risk — without prior notice. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you and give you an opportunity to appeal (see Appeals below).

Public Nature of Content on AT Protocol

Most content on the AT Protocol — including posts, profile information, likes, follows, and blocks — is public by design and visible to anyone on the network. Do not post publicly anything you intend to keep private.

Content Deletion and the Decentralized Network

If you delete Content or your Account, we will make reasonable efforts to remove it from Orbyt and send deletion signals to other AT Protocol services. However, because the AT Protocol is decentralized, we cannot compel independent services to delete your Content. Some data may persist on services outside our control. Complete deletion across the entire network is not guaranteed. To request removal from other AT Protocol services, contact them directly.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Orbyt to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights (including intellectual property rights)
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or harm any person
  • Post content that is illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, or sexually exploitative of minors
  • Distribute malware, spam, phishing content, or other malicious code
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Orbyt systems, accounts, or the AT Protocol infrastructure
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools on Orbyt in a manner that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
  • Circumvent any technical measures we use to enforce these Terms

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Orbyt respects intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes infringement, please contact us with: (1) a description of the copyrighted work, (2) the location of the infringing material in the App, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement of good-faith belief that use is not authorized, and (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the rights owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

We will respond to valid notices in accordance with applicable law and remove or disable access to the infringing material where appropriate.

Termination

Your Right to Close Your Account

You may close your Account at any time through app settings. Upon closure, we will delete your server-side data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Due to the decentralized nature of AT Protocol, closing your Account does not guarantee removal of your content from third-party services on the network — you must contact those services directly.

Our Right to Suspend or Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your Account if we reasonably believe you have:

  • Violated these Terms, our Privacy Policy, or applicable law
  • Created legal, regulatory, safety, or security risk for Orbyt, other users, or third parties

We may also terminate if required by a court order or legal obligation. Where practical and legally permissible, we will give you advance notice. If your account is terminated for trust and safety reasons, we may retain a limited copy of relevant data as permitted by our Privacy Policy.

Appeals

You may appeal any moderation or enforcement decision — including suspension or termination — by contacting us. Describe the decision you are appealing and why you believe it was in error. We will review appeals in good faith and respond within a reasonable time.

Third-Party Services

Orbyt uses third-party service providers to operate and improve the App, including Sentry for crash and error monitoring. By using Orbyt you acknowledge that crash and error data may be processed by these providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Orbyt after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree with updated Terms, you must stop using Orbyt.

IN NO EVENT WILL ORBYT'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO ORBYT IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE OR (B) $100 USD.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally.

General

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Orbyt Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Orbyt regarding the App.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
